ISPO Sweden is pleased to invite you to a course on lower limb amputation. The course is open to surgeons performing amputations, prosthetists, physiotherapists, and other professionals involved in the amputation care team.

The maximum number of participants is 75. To make sure the course is being truly Nordic places will be reserved for each country with 22 for Sweden, 15 places each for Norway, Denmark, Finland and 8 places for Iceland. Places will be shared between professions, with approximately half of the places reserved for surgeons. These restrictions will apply until 1 December. After that date, remaining places will be open without country or professional restrictions.

The course will be conducted in multiprofessional seminar groups, all following the same curriculum and content. We will demonstrate and discuss surgical amputation techniques at all levels of the lower limb. The course will also cover the postoperative phase, rehabilitation, and modern prosthetic techniques, including socket design.

In addition, lectures will address the new consensus recommendations from the European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS Guidelines related to amputation). For this purpose, we have invited two distinguished experts in the field of amputation and rehabilitation: Professor David Bosanquet from Wales (Mr David Bosanquet - People - Cardiff University) and Em. Professor in Rehabilitation Medicine Jan H. B. Geertzen from the Netherlands (Geertzen, Jan). They will be joined by several other Nordic experts with extensive clinical and research experience.

The program will focus on the latest developments in all aspects of lower limb amputation, including phantom limb pain management. Other topics will include osseointegration and SwedeAmp.
